Fashion Etiquette
Fashion etiquette is no longer as stringent as it was in the past. People in today's day and age are encouraged to experiment with clothing and style. However, there are still some key fashion rules to consider when shopping or dressing, whether you're planning for a job interview or a night out on the town. While the standards or trends might change, some of the key points of fashion etiquette should never change. My prime example is wearing jeans to church or to a funeral. Please give me your opinion on what fashion etiquette you think should never go out of style..

I think blue jeans are an American staple. Although I like to see the new trends in jeans, I miss the good old fashioned Levi's. Jeans don't seem to be made the same as they were back in the 70's and 80's, based on different material being used. I used to have a pair of 501 jeans and those were so comfortable. Now as far as fashion etiquette, I think people wear what is comfortable for them. A lady that started at my job recently said she wore jeans to the interview. Apparently my supervisor didn't interview her because he frowns on jeans being worn, with the exception of Friday. Although it's a policy only for supervisor's and upper management to dress nice, he believes in dressing for success.
ReplyDeleteMy company is completely against jeans. We don't even have casual Fridays where we can wear jeans. It is due to the fact that when we have "jeans days" some people stretch it a little too far. You can dress up jeans and that is what they expect when we have jeans days but some people take it to far and dress sloppily.
ReplyDeleteInstead of fashion etiquette going "out-of-style" how about one we'd like to see come back in to style??
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of getting dressed up to go to dinner or a show or even a wedding. However, how disappointing is it to take the time to look appropriate for your surroundings, only to get there and find that the younger generation (and lately the older generation) wearing sloppy jeans, sloppy shirts and looking somewhat unkempt?
Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of casual. But, it doesn't take much to slap together some black pants and a nice shirt people!
So, bring back dressing appropriately for your surroundings! :)
I think wearing jeans to a funeral are the worst, that should not be allowed. But today any thing goes. I think all black will stay in style. A nice pair of jeans with a blazer is a classic look. It's so many do's and dont's in this area. Because style repeats itself, the people just wear it any way today.
